Career Journey Companion Guide
A practical, governed way to document your real career — cleanly, truthfully, and without rewriting your past every time you need a resume.
What Career Journey Actually Does
Career Journey isn’t a resume builder.
It’s a career integrity system built to take everything you’ve done — scattered resumes, old drafts, memories, narrative descriptions, fragments — and convert it into a single confirmed record that doesn’t contradict itself.
It works by:
confirming your roles (company, title, dates) before anything else
turning stories into contribution-level bullets
validating those bullets for clarity and completeness
helping you provide real outcomes, not guesses
removing contradictions in dates, titles, ownership, or metrics
preserving every version you’ve ever written as evidence
exporting a clean, stable Master Resume TXT you own
Everything is rooted in truth, structure, and your actual wording.
No invention. No embellishment. No autofilled impact.
How the Process Works (User Version)
1. Confirming Your Roles
Before the system can capture a single contribution, it locks down your actual job history:
company name
job title
start / end dates
promotions
employment type (if stated)
Nothing moves forward until your role timeline is confirmed.
This prevents bullets from drifting into the wrong job — a core rule of the system.
2. Turning Your Stories Into Draft Contributions
You can speak naturally, type loosely, ramble, or upload old materials.
The system pulls the signals out:
what you did
how you did it
the context
the problems you solved
the outcomes you explicitly mention
Anything missing stays missing — the tool will never guess.
It isolates each contribution as a draft bullet written in your own voice.
3. Making Each Bullet Complete (Without Rewriting You)
Draft bullets are checked to ensure they describe a real contribution:
the action you took
the work you performed
how you did it (method, tool, approach)
the result
If a piece is missing, you get a small, targeted question — nothing leading or suggestive.
The system stays strict: no result, no complete bullet.
Incomplete bullets are preserved but marked for archive instead of inclusion.
4. Providing Real Outcomes (Your Words, Not AI’s)
When you describe a contribution but skip the outcome, the system asks only what’s needed to complete it:
What changed because of your work?
What improved?
What problem was reduced or prevented?
It only records what you say.
Nothing is upgraded, interpreted, or assigned extra impact.
5. Consolidating Your Past Resumes
If you upload older resumes, the system extracts every bullet as written — even the messy ones — and stores them with full provenance.
From there it:
groups duplicates
highlights conflicting versions
lets you pick the correct one
archives everything you don’t choose
Nothing is deleted.
Every trace of your history is preserved.
6. Removing Contradictions
The system surfaces inconsistencies across roles and bullets:
overlapping dates
mismatched titles
conflicting outcomes
different tools described for the same project
ownership conflicts (“led” vs “supported”)
It never decides for you — it simply asks which version is true.
When you confirm, the rest is archived.
7. Building Your Master Resume (The Final Artifact)
Once everything is:
validated
complete
contradiction-free
assigned to the correct role
…the system assembles your Master Resume TXT:
your full role history
your confirmed contributions
your validated skills and tools (extracted only from bullets you approved)
no rewriting
no reformatting
no added content
This file becomes your source of truth for Resume Tailor and all future applications.
How This Helps You
Career Journey gives you:
a clear, non-contradictory record of your real work
a bulletproof foundation for every resume you’ll ever need
a truthful dataset that Resume Tailor can tailor without risk of drift
clarity about your strengths, patterns, and impact
relief from the constant cycle of rewriting your career from scratch
It replaces résumé anxiety with structure, certainty, and truth.
Saving Your Progress
Career Journey doesn’t store anything automatically.
Everything lives in a simple .txt file on your computer:
save often
upload your file to continue
nothing exists unless you save it
This keeps your history private and entirely under your control.
Quick Start — What to Upload
You only need three kinds of inputs:
1. Something that shows where you’ve worked
Resume, LinkedIn export, or a simple job list.
This sets your timeline.
2. Something that shows what you actually did
Screenshots, notes, old docs, or memory fragments.
3. Something that sounds like you
A small reflection, a message you wrote, or any piece of narrative.
The system does the organizing — you just bring the pieces.
