Resume Tailor Companion Guide

A clear, honest guide for using Resume Tailor with your Master Resume file.

What Resume Tailor Does

Resume Tailor compares your Master Resume to any job description and provides:

  • A factual alignment analysis

  • A recruiter-style evaluation

  • Matched vs. missing skills and responsibilities

  • JD integrity notes

  • Structured tailoring (only if you choose to proceed)

Nothing is ever invented or inflated.
Every bullet and skill comes directly from your Master Resume.

Your Master Resume is the source of truth.

What You’ll Receive

Each tailoring run includes:

1. Alignment Analysis

  • Match band (High / Medium / Low)

  • Numeric match percentage

  • Matched + missing skills

  • Matched + missing responsibilities

2. Recruiter Sentiment

A neutral 3–5 sentence evaluation showing:

  • Where you are strong

  • Where you have real gaps

  • How a recruiter would interpret your resume for this JD

No praise, no hype, no guarantees.

3. JD Integrity Notes

Flags unrealistic expectations, contradictions, or vague job-posting language.

4. Tailoring Output (Optional)

If you choose to run tailoring, you’ll get:

  • A short strengths + gaps overview

  • Optional gap-contribution bullets (only if you add them)

  • Grouped bullets per role:

    • Essential (up to 5)

    • Recommended (up to 3)

    • Optional (the remaining, still valid bullets)

  • Reordered Core Competencies & Tools based on JD priority

  • A neutral 2–4 sentence summary built strictly from evidenced bullets

Everything remains copy-and-paste ready for your resume template.

What Resume Tailor Does NOT Do

Resume Tailor does not:

  • Write cover letters

  • Create new skills or roles

  • Rewrite or revise your bullet content

  • Predict hiring outcomes

  • Format a PDF resume

  • Choose fonts, spacing, or visual layouts

You handle the visual template.
Resume Tailor gives you the content.
